There are many causes and contributing factors to sexual dysfunction in women.
- Decreased libido- This is often due to hormonal changes, medical conditions, medications, stress, and/or fatigue.
- Arousal disorder-This is often due to decreased lubrication, blood flow disorders, and/or inadequate foreplay.
- Anorgasmia- This is often due to medications, chronic disease, or insufficient stimulation.
- Dyspareunia-Painful intercourse can be due to inflammation, endometriosis, scar tissue, or lack of lubrication.
- Vulvodynia or Vestibulodynia- Chronic vulvar burning which is often due to infections or allergic reactions. Many times the cause is not found and it is labeled idiopathic.
